About this deal

Grabbing pieces of data from 3 different tests they've done at TXG, I guess this is about as close as it gets.

I have really enjoyed your Ball Lab series. I find myself looking at the guts of mower-cut balls I find on the course and counting layers, looking at empty covers and wondering what had been on the inside (and why more of the innards aren’t still there). Despite being relatively new to golfers, both models have remained unchanged for the last few Pro V1 release cycles. It’s worth noting that Titleist says lessons learned from both balls have filtered into the mainstream products. As you can see on the box, Titleist states that the short game spin of the Pro V1x Left Dash is lower than the standard Pro V1x. This is a little jarring in the context of every OEM stating that all of their Tour-level balls feature equally amazing, stupendous, super duper wedge spin. That last bit makes for fortuitous timing. Despite appearances, the Left Dot release has been in the works for months. The new-to-you balls have been the key ingredient in a blind test for MyGolfspy forum members for the better part of a month. With Finau winning last week, Titleist probably wishes it made a few (thousand dozen) more.

50 Words or Less

Due to the increasing demand for low-spinning Golf balls, Titleist introduced the Pro V1x left dash in recent years. Higher spinning can benefit some players in many ways, but the Left dash model was manufactured with a different purpose.

Golfers looking to reduce spin through the bag may benefit from the specific performance of Pro V1x Left Dash. If you’re curious whether Pro V1x Left Dash fits your game, visit our Golf Ball Fitting & Education Resources, where you can schedule a live, one-on-one virtual golf ball consultation with a member of the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting team and access the Titleist Golf Ball Selector Tool. Despite the balls being produced in different factories, we found no appreciable difference in average compression across the sample. It’s the only ball in our database that has achieved a “good” rating for each of our three consistency metrics. What Left Dash, Left Dot, and Star have in common is that each played a role in developing technologies used in the next generation of Titleist products. Driver: Seems that the left dash would be slighter higher ball speed, higher launch, and lower spin than the TP5x.
