About this deal

While decidedly unappealing for display, this model presents some enjoyable functions. They include two rotating platforms where the duelling minifigures can stand, which are seamlessly integrated among studded plates. However, there is no mechanism for turning these platforms remotely, despite the available space underneath the platform. Removing the helmet does reveal something to differentiate this version of Darth Vader from others though, as the head is unique. The scarring looks suitably gruesome, as always, while Vader's hateful expression is preferable to his usual smile. Intricate detail continues across the reverse and this minifigure wields a red lightsaber. Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader is based around the first meeting between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, as told in Part III of the Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi. An out-of-sorts Kenobi is chased around an abandoned mining facility of sorts by his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker, complete in his terrifying Vader get-up, before they briefly come together. This set definitely seems to be missing a couple of stormtroopers. They were all over that scene. Even *one* stormtrooper to accompany Vader would have been appropriate and might have eased the price (a little…) I am actually a big fan of this set. As far as the Minifigure selection, this is a relatively inexpensive way to get Vader, (even though I will admit the set is overpriced) and comes with the fantastic Ned-B figure, plus a new design for Obi-Wan and a mediocre figure of a new character.

Furthermore, pressing a lever behind the cargo sled causes this vehicle to tip, releasing even more trans-orange 1x1 slopes onto the battlefield! They improve the appearance of the model, breaking up the monochrome base, while the cargo sled features unexpected detail. The visual similarities between this sled and NED-B seem appropriate. Those desirable minifigures include an exclusive version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, wearing his now-shabby Jedi robes. The tattered edges look superb and I think dark brown was the best colour choice. Unfortunately, there is a noticeable printing error on Obi-Wan's hips, but this seems to be an issue isolated to the batch of sets distributed for review. Plus, all the blank space is pretty accurate to the referenced scene (although something like a crane would be a nice focal point, but I think the designers wanted the minifigures to take point) C’mon, Lego: you can do better than this! Admittedly, I don’t know what constraints they were given by Disney (which could have been in many levels) but I feel that they could have done so much more for a low- to mid-range set.The price is unarguably more than the set is actually worth, but the same can be said for most LEGO Star Wars sets nowadays. I'll be watching the "Number Who Own This Set" stat very closely upon release. See if people put their money where their mouth (or keystrokes) is and actually avoid buying this set or capitulate. I get the feeling even with all the complaining (which, don't get me wrong, I think is justified here), people are still just buying anything LEGO makes with the "Star Wars" logo slapped on it. As a Star Wars fan before LEGO got involved, it was painfully obvious that Star Wars fanatics are those kinds of consumers. Maybe that has changed somewhat, but I doubt it." I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master.”

P.P.S. The Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother originally came in a couple of great sets ( 75188, that's five years ago." Can't speak for everyone, but I rarely buy recent sets anymore. I always wait a couple of years for the aftermarket, sets sold from households that are growing out of sets and the like. But even that is not much. This year I've almost entirely bought sets from before 2010.Joe Versus the Volcano. Yet, there will be Schindler's List and Sixth Sense. And then, we'll try to ignore Flintstones and War of the Worlds. Considering how additionally corrosive capitalism has become in the age of the Internet, I cannot let any company, even one I actually like and have even worked for like LEGO, have such a stranglehood on my life and interests. I'll add that even I'm not immune to the effects; I think like the dark side, it's a battle we all have to face in our own ways. Hopefully, we win most of the large battles and only lose (or give in) to the little ones, and maintain sanity alongside healthy wallets in the meantime." Again, as I have mentioned in a prior post, I have not seen the show yet (waiting at the end for binge-watch). It cannot be worst than the book of Bobba Fett (I hope); the first 2 episodes were fine but then nothing happened. Bobba should have had vengeance against somebody on every single episode. Fennec Shand was apparently one of the greatest killer of the Galaxy - her role has been completely wasted (same happened to Captain Phasma). I believe there were a few episodes where we did not see either Bobba Fett or Fennec Shand. There’s no denying what they are. It’s a perfectly cromulent word. If you’re one, stop making excuses so Feloni and Favreau can fix it once KK is hit by a bus/plane/comet. "

But this, I suspect, is probably more interesting to a great many of the kids that make up LEGO’s core audience, and I’m sure that’s who TLG was targeting with it. That’s still not to say it isn’t pricey for what one gets, and I’m not sure it’s not overpriced, but I do think the price makes a lot more sense when one takes into account the play features that so many of us just ignore because we don’t care about them. P.S. JK about parts monkeys. SC and its large, hard-working staff of ego maintenance personnel would never condone any negativity towards our fellow primates who ignore minifigs and only love parts. They serve a valuable social function of allowing us to fund their love of parts through our addiction to minifigs. Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader offers an accurate and fair representation of a notable – albeit brief – scene from the Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi. There are play features and pieces of scenery true to what we see on screen, and the set also includes a fantastic line-up of four relevant and very-well-designed minifigures. I guess, I'm also not as demanding as the hardcore fans: there are only a few small parts of the prequels I didn't like and as for the sequels, I did not like movie 8 at all (Leia Poppins and gravity bombs in space!) but the others were ok. I liked the Mandalorian, hopefully I will like Obi-wan and the upcoming Ahsoka." This is no peak Anakin vs. Obi-Wan battling it out across the molten lava of Mustafar, so turning this into a LEGO set won’t produce something as fun and dynamic as 75269 Duel on Mustafar, where the scenery so visibly and playfully adds to the action you can play out between the characters, just as it did in Revenge of the Sith.

Personally I think the show is great. Its just proving the adage that "nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans" unfortunately. It doesn't help either that there is a Star Wars-hate complex, that has popped up on YouTube to monetize bashing Star Wars, and now that the sequels are over the hate mongers need to bash whatever else is new. They're mad Kenobi is a broken man struggling with PTSD, and not a badass video game character that crushes people's throats and lives out a male fantasy daily. They will be bashing Ms. Marvel by the end of the day, Thor Love and Thunder in a couple weeks, then Andor and Bad Batch Season 2... its their path, its their way to make money, shill their political opinions; and get mindless fans to follow them while they laugh to the bank. A rotten lot the bunch of them. I think a lot of people forget that a lot of MOCs, like Star Wars ones, are also just a ton of blank space with minifigures.
